Another trip to Stolford, 30-05-21

I do like this venue but it is a
Spring tide venue.
I must say now
take great care of the mud, it is very
soft and deep.

Also take care of walking out
over the the rocky areas.
The tides come in very quickly
and there is a very big risk
of being cut off.

I use the same rigs as most of
my Bristol Channel fishing.
Penned Pullys with
60 or 80lb Snoods with 4/0 hooks

The above photo shows what the smaller

Conger do to smaller Snoods.

Also there is very little tide so grip leads are

not needed.

Again I caught Conger, just the one.

The same baits were used.

Three very nice fishing trips. I hope to be out

later this week.

A new venue, Stolford, near Hinkley Point.

Stolford is a shallow venue
Which has rocky, mud, sand
and nixed bottom.

I fished into the evening
using Squid, Black Lug,
Mackerel and Crab Cart Wings.
Not to sure what Cart Wings
are. They are blocks of Crab
and well, I am not sure what else.
You 5 blocks in a small plastic
Tub. Hopefully  I will take some photos
on a latter trip.

This Conger was one of three
I caught caught.
I also had one of my hooks
lengths  bitten off.

5lb Cod from the Ledges 19-05-21

I managed a fishing trip to
the ledges at Ladye Bay.

I could only get Squid,
Black Lug and Sandeel.

This cracking  Cod was landed
about 45 minutes before high tide.
It took a Squid and Black Lug
wrap.

That was the only bite of the session.

Durley Reservoir 10-05-21

I was invited to fish with my son to this Somerset
venue.
We were set up by 9am, gate opens at 8am.
My son then taught me how to .
This involves a bomb shaped piece of kit
that is split length ways.
Fill it up, close the two halves together
and cast out.
It is a good way to to get a lot of ground bait out quickly
and accurately.
Well although it was slow going,
I still managed to catch
6 Bream. I do like Bream and was happy
to target them.

In the end I caught 6.
6lber, 7lber, 10lb 10oz, 10lb 12oz, 2 x 4lbers.
So two personal best Bream in a row.
Weather was windy with showers
and when the sun came very warm.
My son, an avid Carp angler was
most upset to only being able
to catch 4 x Bream.
All in all a good day out.

4 Trips two venues.

The first trip was at Ladye Bay
I fished the afternoon into evening.
Baits were, Squid / Ragworm, Squid / Sandeel wraps
and Squid on its own.
Lovely afternoons fishing
but only one bite, which was a Dogfish.
Second trip was to Rockingham,
here I used Squid / Rag wrap, Squid on it's own
or Rag on its own.
There was a chilly wind but otherwise
a lovely evening.
Result was 5 Coddling,
2 were near 3lb so
I kept them.

A week later found me back at

Rockingham,

Rag and Squid were the baits again.

This trip was in the morning with a light breeze.

Result 4 small Codling, all returned.

The next morning I back at Rockingham

again Squid / Rag was left over from the day before.

Weather was the same as the day before,

and the result was 2 small Codling.
