2010 First trip

This was seen that greated myself and Russell.
Ice, Ice and snow.
There was ice flows and slush for up to 10mtrs. Cool?!

Wales looked very white as well
Snow every where but what a sight.
We arrived at Rockingham at 10.00,
the high tide was at 11.50 and 12.2mtrs.
We took Rag Squid and Mackeral
but only used rag.
First cast for me produced a small Codling.
Long cast produced very little activity.
So I set up a rod and cast out around 30 - 40 mtrs
and very quickly a Flounder was on the snow.
About 45 minutes later I had another, dinner for me and she who must be obeyed.

Russell managed a small Codling and a Flounder.
He did manage some good cast, pushing 150 - 200yrds.

The day was great, not as cold as it looks
with light wind and very good company.

Portishead Yacht club slipway 17-12-09

Fished with my son Russell again.
Using lug, rag, Squid and Mackeral,
on Pennell Pully and Wishbone Rigs.
Low tide was at 13.22. We fished from 10.50 till 15.30.
Russell had 19 Codling and I had 12 Codling and a Rockling.
Lug caught most of the fish.
The codling came in 2 by 2

Even a Rockling came and said hello.
Mud what mud!
Russell paddeling in the mud at the end of the
slipway.
No not Leatherback Turtle
tracks.
Weed tracks.
Yep large rafts of Bladderwrack seeweed
caused mayhem.

Portishead Yacht club slipway

Just before high tide, 4 rods waiting for something big??!!!

Russell took me out for a fishing trip down Portishead way.
High tide was at 12.22 and 11.5 mtrs.
As can be seen from the photos it was calm, sunny and warm
Thought it was December not October??
Russell used a 2/0 - 3/0 pennell pulley rig
and a wishbone rig (chosen by Kyle his 22 month old son)
Here two micro codling are on the wishbone rig.
Looks like my grandson is going to be a good fisherman.

The wishbone rig caught 11 codling using lug as bait, while
Russells pennell pulley rig with lug, lug / Squid cocktail only caught 1.
Micro Codling like this have been caught regularly,
Why are they not coming back as sizeable fish??!!
I got in the action with 4 micro codling on live bait
size 2 - 3/0 live bait rig pennell pulley rigs

Thats me trying to get a one of the codling to swim away,
some may say my best side????!!!!! LOL??!!!
All in all a lovely days fishing
