Set off for Bournmouth
at 04.30,
arrived a 06.25.
Then a 20 minute walk
to my first swim.
I set up in my first swim
with my usual two rods
and rigs.
Straight from the first cast
the tips started nodding
twitching.
So I wasn't surprised when,
at 07.25
one tip pulled round and
my first fish was on its way in.
2lb 14 1/4 Chub was on the unhooking mat.
While I waited for the next take,
a Sparrow Hawk kept my attention
as it hunted in the trees
on the opposite bank.
Pike were also hunting
with fry being chased
and eaten.
The other rod tip
pulled round at 08.05.
4lb 1oz Chub
this time.
As the tip action eased off
I changed swims,
first cast in this swim was at 09.00.
However, although I could see fish in the
areas between the the weed,
they were not interested in
static baits.
I didn't have the kit to fish loose
feed baits.
I decided another move was needed.
I was in swim 3 by 10.00,
this was a new swim for me.
I cast out one rod across the
to the far side
and the other to a over hanging
tree.
This is a nice deep swim,
and had plenty of life.
Rod tips showed plenty of life
and 10.15
a 5lb 11 1/4 Chub
snapped up my bait.
This was the biggest fish of the session.
The Duck weed was a pain
and stuck to ever thing.
Now it was Bream time
This one was landed at 10.30
taking the same baits as the Chub,
and weighed 3lb 12oz.
I didn't even manage to
release the first Bream
when the other rod bounced
rattled,
producing this 5lb 8oz
Bream.
More Duck weed covering
every thing.
Once again
the rod tip activity eased off,
so it was into
my 4th swim.
Mid day found me
settled into my last swim.
One bait was cast across the river to a deep hole,
the second rod was cast
down stream to a
Gravel run.
Not so much tip activity
but plenty of time for my lunch.
At 12.30 the down stream tip
pulled down.
The last fish of the day
was on,
3lb 5 1/4oz Chub was in the net.
I watched a lot of wild life
for the next hour,
so by 1.30
I packed up
and head for the car
and the 2 plus journey home.
Another lovely trip.
