This weeks fishing, (hopefully)

I hope to do a bit of sea fishing
as well as pole fishing a lake.

Falmouth, Pendennis Point 27-07-11

Popped down to Pendennis Point
on Wednesday morning.
The weather was perfect for holiday makers but
not for fishing.
4 of us fished One none fisherman: Float fishing
One novice sea angler: Float fishing
One fly fisherman: spinning
and me; Spinning and feathers.
Well nothing caught in 3 hours but very good practice
everyone enjoyed it.
Beats fishing in thick brown muddy
waters of the Severn estuary and Bristol Channel.

Bagwood Lake 19-07-11

My son Russell fished the lake for 24 hours.
He caught around a dozen Cary to just short of 20lds
and some Bream.
Here are a few photos of the lake.
There were plenty of Carp feeding on
insect on the surface.
Cracking day
Big tail pattern of a Carp over Russells bait.

Are there Barbel in the Bristol Frome

I have been asked if there are any
Barbel in the Bristol Frome?

I have heard the rumours that they have been caught,
I have never in the last 20 years caught one
or ever seen one being caught.

However there are stretches I've not fished
and there could be some there.

If anyone has caught one then I'd expect them to keep
quiet about it as they would never get to fish that area again
as it would be heavily over fished.

I'm going to fish the Frome again after the
summer holidays are over.

Rockingham 05-07-11

High tide this morning was at 10.51
and 12.7mtrs.

I used my usual Pennell Pulley rig and Wishbone,
as well as a Carp rod.

Bait used was Rag worm.

The two beach casters were fished out to about 80mtrs
and the Carp Rod no more than 30mtrs.

The Beach Casters managed 1 fiddly bite and nothing else

First cast with the Carp rod produced a Snotty.
About half an hour before high tide this 27cm
Sole latched on to the bait,
apart from that there were only 5 or 6 other bites with nothing banked.
These two photos show the distance the water is out
from the bank when I cast first cast out.

Around 25 horses are now roaming around the grass bank.
One off which managed to escape on to the main road
and caused havoc with the traffic.
