Down and muddy at Rockingham 27-05-12

DON'T TRY THIS SPOT
WITHOUT SOME ONE
WHO KNOWS THE AREA.

THE TIDE RISES
VERY FAST

AND THE MUD
IS DEEP.

STAY SAFE

Trying to catch some thing for the table
I decided to get muddy.
Out over the mud I stomped,
(boy that's hard),
I set up with a short pulley rig loaded with
lug and rag.
The odd little rattle was followed by a drop back bite
which produced a 1 1/2lb codling,
which was returned as it was undersized.
In this photo my tracks out and back
can be seen.
The return is even harder.
I was more knackered
after that, than the 10K,
I on the 20-5-12 in 49mins 12secs.
High was around 11.54 and 11.1mtrs.
The only other bite just after high water was
a Fresh water Eel of about a pound
that wrecked my Wishbone rig.
AAAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!!.

Another very enjoyable trip.

Ladye Bay 26-05-12

Decided to give Ladye Bay another try,
hoping for Thornies or Doggies.
Well with Squid, Rag, Lug and Crab
and usual rigs.
I arrived at 06.00 and fished till 13.00,
high was at 11.07 and 11.5mtrs.
Slow, and very slow
was the order of the day.
With two bites
producing
2 small Codling.
As can be seen they were small
both returned.
A juicy Squid wrapped wit
lug and Rag failed to even get a bite.
The only down side was two eastern European
fishermen also catching small codling
but keeping them.

The weather was magic except for the east
part of the norteasterly
gusty breeze.

Where to fish Saturday 26-05-12

Not sure where to fish
Rockingham,
OR
Ladye Bay.

So up very early to catch low tide and fish
till 13.00.

Decisions, decisions.

6 species down Baltic Wharf 24-05-12

Down to the usual peg at Baltic this morning.
Fished from 08.00 till 13.00
First hour was great with a steady stream of
small Roach, Dace and Skimmers.
These came to red and white maggot
over my normal ground bait,
and loose feed of maggot, caster, trout pellet and hemp.
The fish were caught an inch or two of the bottom.

I then went an inch over depth as the bites had
dried up.
Some larger Skimmers then showed but soon legged it.
After a wait this 2lb 4oz Mullet took red and white
maggot on the bottom.
(Sorry for poor photo! Shoot the camera man!)
The rig was dropped back in the water while I
weighed and sorted out the fish.
This tiny Elver took the size 16 hook from
right in close.
The fishing was very slow after that with one more
10 inch eel and more skimmers were caught.
I guess about 5lb of mixed grill plus the
mullet, so not to bad.
So a standard morning down Baltic
but still very enjoyable.

Baltic Wharf, out of sorts. 08-05-12

What can I say but Baltic was
off form today.
Everything was as usual:-
swim, bait and rigs.
The fish were obviously
not out to playing.

With 2 roach, 1 dace
and this
5lb 15 1/2oz
Bream
caught in the first hour,
by 12 midday
I only managed a tiny
roach
So headed home and
started digging the hole for the
new pond.
