Rockingham 27-03-10

Mud mud glorious mud!
Yuk.
Fished from 15.20 till 18.20
12mtr tide at 17.15.
The strong breese produced some spray over the bank
1 mtr from the top of the bank
I used 4 rods, 3 beach casters and a carp rod.
Baits were Lugworm and Squid.
The carp rod with flowing trace and size 1 hook
caught 11 fish and was good fun. Just like catching roach on a river
but more fun.
Biggest of 18 Codling was this 13 inch chap
The only other species caught was this 10 inch flounder
Foul hooked on the back.
Time to pack in 18.20

Saturday 28-02-10 Fly fishing

My brother Mike came and visited us for the weekend
and he took me fly fishing for Trout.
We went fish to Jacklands near Nailsea.
We arrived in pouring rain. We bought a 2 fish ticket each and set up the kit.
It looked like the rain was in for the afternoon.
However it gradually started to brighten up and I managed to put a fly (Blue/greem Montana),
about a 3rd of the way out.
Shock horror I got a bite!!!!??????
My first trout from a Trout lake on a fly.
Soon a trout of around 1 1/2ld was on the bank and
dispatched to take home.
Haveing had some grub, the rain had stopped and the sun
came out, what a lovelt afternoon.
2 1/2 hours later and a full lap of the lake, I'm told I was getting better!!!!
Well, getting better didn't catch me any more fish.
Mike had managed a trout himself but the trout had stopped biting.
Around 2.30 I had another bite, whoppee fish on. At the same time Mike also had
a bite as did the other two fishermen on the lake.
I stopped fishing then and watched Mike who went and got another ticket.
Another two fish on the bank and we called it a day at 15.00.
Nice day thanks mike.

The Cottage, Portishead

06-02-10
Fished the Cottage today
High tide was at 11.56 and 11.3mtrs
Started 08.20 and finished 13.30.
Small codling were the order of the AGAIN!
This was the second fish caught on a wishbone pulley rig
baited with lug.
They are getting a bit bigger.

At high tide I was pushed back to the weed line.
12mtr tides get to the bottom of the ledge.
Three hours before high tide the gully is just visible.
It is made up of pebbles and the odd larger
going on to mud shingle. At around 100mtrs
there is a drop off which kills rigs, they never come back.

This old Lifeboat came storming by.
