What's been happening

I've not been out fishing for quite a while

as I've been caring for she who must be obeyed.

However the river season starts on Thursday

so hope to be out next Tuesday.

Christian Malford or Bristol Frome?

Also hope to chase some Dover Sole?

Windmill Fishery, new venue.

Went and had a look at this set of 4 lakes which has

recently opened.

Its located off the Westerly Road about 1/2 mile from

the turning to Bitterwell lake.

The 4 lakes are:-

Carp lake (below) with fish to 25ld

18 pegs

Specimen Lake

18 pegs with a central island

stocked with

Roach, Bream,Tench, Perch and Carp

Silver fish lake

is as the sign says

32 peg Match Lake

again as it says on the sign

Prices from £5 for 1 rod for an evening {after 5pm}

up to £20 (max 2 rods) for a day and night ticket.

Not my cup of tea, but might give it a try?

Computer problems

My new computer is now on line

Dutchess Lake again 12-05-11

With plenty of bait left over I decided
to chase the small fish down Dutchy again.

Used the same rigs but with new hook lenghts,
same baits and same swim.
Fished 8am till 1pm.

This time the wind was straight in my face
and gusty, making bait presentation difficult.

There a few more sleeping fishermen,
oops, I mean Carp fishermen.
Once again they suffered a fish less
5 hours, as far as I could see.

I started as I left it,
a bite a cast but lots of small fish
and a few dropped fish as well.

Nothing big, about 3/4 ld skimmer the best on the pole.
I managed to get around12ld in the net in the end.


However I used a ledger rod set up to my right,
with sweetcorn fished over a carpet
of sweetcorn and hemp.
The only good run produced
this Bream of 3ld 6oz.

Another good Dutchy fishing day.

Dutchess Lake 10-05-11

Fished the eastern end of the lake,
nearest to the M32 motorway.
Fished from 8 am till 1 pm.

Only used the pole today with
Maggot, Caster and Sweetcorn as bait.

I fished 8.5mtrs out at the bottom of
the drop off.
The first hour or so was very slow, then
the fish started biting.
Caster just off the bottom picked up the fish
and then double white Maggot was the best.

From around 10.45 the fish really started biting
and it ended up a fish a chuck. White Maggot
really the best, Sweet corn had no takers.

In the end I had between 8 and 10ld of skmmers,
roach and hybrids. First time the hybrids
out scored the skimmers and roach.
They don't haf hang on.

All in all a great 5 hours.
